In an ebb & flow system (sometimes called a "flood and drain" system), a water pump forces water up from the reservoir to the grow tray. Water remains in the tray as long as the pump is on--a special overflow fitting allows the water to drain back to the reservoir once it reaches a preset depth. Plants absorb water and nutrients from the bottom while the tray is flooded, then get a breath of fresh air when the water drains back to the reservoir. Ebb & Flow systems offer flexibility, performance, and low maintenance!
